About Me:
I’m Kjersten Danzig, pronounced Kyeer-stin (The J is an anomaly). I am currently finishing up my BFA in Music Theatre with minors in dance and arts administration at Viterbo University. I am originally from Salt Lake City, Utah but spent much of my childhood on tour with my family’s folk and bluegrass band, Otter Creek and The 3 Muses.
As a kid, I loved my dress up box. It was an avenue to different worlds and stories. My parents sat through Cinderella countless times as I transformed our living room into a stage. As my love for the performing arts has transitioned onto a real stage and into an educational environment, I’ve been able to conceptualize why theatre has always been so meaningful to me. To observe another person/character and to understand their motivations, pain, and perspective is such humanizing practice.
Recently, I have found myself wondering how I, as an artist, can make a difference in the world in the midst of many cosmic injustices and global crises. While this will be a lifetime of exploration, I believe that art is humanity's way of surviving. Whether it be a show that challenges our beliefs, biases, and perspectives, or a show that allows the audience to escape for a while, people need art.
